inked up sat down with our designer, katie joyce to find out all about her:
What is your style?:
“Dot Work, Micro Realism. I enjoy it because the medium reminds me of sketching with a pencil. It’s pure.”
What inspired you to become an artist?:
“As a child I was obsessed with tattoos. I always used to buy tattoo magazines before school and loved the crazy designs on people!”
How long have you been tattooing?:
“I have been qualified and licenced for a year.”
Who / What are your influences?:
“I have different influences for art and for tattoos. I enjoy the pre-Raphaelites on canvas but in tattoos I love the Macabre and you can see that reflected in my work.”
If you could tattoo anyone who would it be?:
“Definitely Ozzy Osbourne!”
What would you tattoo on them?:
“I would tattoo the head of a bat on one butt cheek and the body on the other.”
What gets you in the zone?:
“Good music and a good vibe from the client and if I’m tattooing a custom piece that’s even better.”
What is the most bizarre thing you have tattooed?:
“That would be two ghosts doing it doggy style…”
How do you unwind?:
“Spending time around my horse and my dog for sure. I also love to watch cartoons.”
How would describe yourself?:
“Oddball, but fun. I’m genuine and beautifully unique but I’m also not shy to speak my mind. I’m a soft and gentle tattooist.”
